英國State School如同香港的津校?
英國的學校如香港般分為兩大類別：公立學校及私立學校，公立學校又稱為State School 或 State/Government-funded School；而私立學校則稱為Private School、Independent School及 Public School。在英國擁有超過3千間由政府資助的公立中學，並細分為3大類別包括Grammar School 、Maintained School及Academies and Free Schools，概念如同香港的津校、官校及直資相似。
1) Grammar School
Grammar School 類似香港公立名校，雖由政府資助，但卻有既定的考試程序來收取新生，要求亦相當嚴謹。Grammar School 亦十分著重學生的學術表現，如有意安排子女於中學時期成功入入讀Grammar School，可讓子女報考「11+」的考試，考核範圍包括數學、英文、推理能力。英文考核將評估考生的閱讀理解能力、拼寫、標點及文法等；而數學則評估考生的推理能力、運算；最後會提出一些問題如圖形推理、文字推理等試題。考生需在第5班時報名，並在第5班九月應考；部份獨立學校則在6月至9月舉行考試，通常在2月份公布考試成績。
2) Maintained School
Maintained School 如同香港的官立學校，由地區政府(Local Authority)直接資助，學校需按照指引來製定課程、收生，教師的薪金亦是按照公務員的體制作出調整。而 Maintained School 亦再細分為兩大類為：Community School 及 Foundation School。Community School 從地區政府取得最多資助大，政府直接負責該校的地皮及建築物，因此「地區教育部」對學校有掌控權，由聘請教師、收生程序、以至上課時間等，地區教育部都可控制。而 Foundation School 擁有自己土地及學校建築，雖然亦有受惠於地區政府的資助，但在行政管理上比Community School 有較大彈性。學校可自行成立管理層來管理校園日常運作、聘請教職員及收生程序，但仍需跟從「地區教育部」安排學期及上課時間。
3) Academies Schools
Academies Schools 是透過國家教育部直接資助，而非經由地區政府資助，因而不受地區政府管理，校方會自行成立教育信託機構 (Academy Trust)及「學校理事會」來管理學校，而 Academy Trust 有權自行聘請教師及收生要求。模式如同香港的津貼學校，受政府資助，但管理上則以直資方式營運。Academies Schools亦有細分為Sponsored Academies 或Converter Academies。Sponsored Academies Schools 受惠於一些商家或志願團體資助，因而對校方的Academy Trust有一定程度的操控權，而Converter Academies Schools則完全相反，不受其他團體資助。在學術方面Sponsored Academies Schools的學術表現相對一般，而 Converter Academies Schools的學術表現往往較理想。
